Behind the Art...

Sup. I’m Clayton.

I have always been drawn to the things that persist exactly where they are not supposed to. There is something powerful, something almost defiant, about a bright intricate orchid forced to live against a weathered brick backdrop or a stained concrete floor. That is the energy I am chasing on the canvas.

My style isn’t about being "pretty." It is about the impact. I use a high saturation palette to pull you in, but I ground it with the heavy lines and unpolished textures of street art. I love the weight of a thick black outline. It is the cage that keeps the color from escaping.

My work is physical and intuitive. I let the layers build up. I let the paint bleed and the spray mist splatter until the piece feels earned. I want you to feel the texture of the drab background, the grey, the grit, the street level soul, because that is what makes the color actually mean something.

I paint for the people who find beauty in the contrast. While I focus on the grey scale of the urban world, the real hero is the flower. It is the part of the painting that refuses to blend in. My art is a reminder that you do not need a perfect environment to be bold. You just need the guts to stand out.

Peace, Art, and Love,
Clayton
